Winter Is Past Part 19 - I take every thought captive to obey Christ!

II Corinthians 10:4 - 5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

    After completing the surgeries and treatments to remove any cancerous tumor and cells from my body, the final instruction from my oncologist before I would see her again in a few months was to “be vigilant of my symptoms.” Well, I tell you what...being vigilant of my symptoms meant one thing for sure - I had A LOT of symptoms.

    Never having been prone to headaches in the past, I suddenly had them daily. I also had rib pain, pain in my chest, and the feeling that there was “something there” in my breast and armpit almost constantly.

    I would cry out to God to take away the pain and the symptoms daily - even minute by minute. And then He finally got my attention long enough to speak II Corinthians 10:4 to me. I’m not supposed to be “vigilant of my symptoms!” I am supposed to take every thought captive and bring them into captivity to obey Christ!

    Now when I get symptoms, which coincidentally come full force about two weeks before I am to see my oncologist for a check-up, I am vigilant to declare the confessions that I have listed in these pages. I proclaim that I shall not die, but live and declare the glory of God! I say that I am healed by the name and the blood of Jesus Christ! I profess that God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid! I look for the symptoms of His promise of abundant life and His good and perfect gifts instead of the devil’s “gift” of death and destruction.

    I wish I could say that I have perfected the art of taking every thought captive. Sometimes I forget the “through God” part, and I fail because, in my own strength, this is impossible. But God is working in and through me! (Philippians 2:13)

Philippians 2:13 "for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure."

Philippians 2:13 "for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure."

Mighty God,
You have given me weapons that are not of this world to fight my true enemy, the devil. He would try to exalt himself above you, and he would use my own thoughts and imaginations to do this. But with your might and your weapons, I take every thought captive to obey Christ!
